Comparison of fiber optic providers in Zurich

Which provider has the best offer?

The offers for fiber-to-the-home (Glasfaser) in the city of Zurich (Zürinet) are not easy to compare. Initial costs, fixed network, and TV offers make it difficult. I have therefore decided on the following setting for comparing fiber optic connections in Zurich:

• I include all costs (activation plus router minus promo) over 3 years. For example, Sunrise offers 1/1GB for 19.50 in the first year. In the following year, however, it costs 79, activation costs 89, and the router is included. This results in the amount in the blue box. I list the "normal" monthly prices below.
• The speed is not really important, whether 1GB or 10GB doesn't matter. 1GB is usually completely sufficient (even for professionals).
• I'm not interested in fixed network services; I canceled my connection 20 years ago. It's 2024, there's WhatsApp, FaceTime, Skype, Zoom, etc. You can also have Skype with a fixed network number, by the way.
• II don't want an additional set-top box for TV. Please provide an app for Apple/Android or Smart TV that I can use on all devices without having to rent another box if I have a second TV. I use Teleboy on Apple TV, notebook, and phone. It works great, even from abroad, if I record the show beforehand.

Best price for 1GB internet in the city of Zurich: Yallo Home Max

Internet TV

The best invention since TV is Replay. You can watch whatever you want whenever you want, and you can fast forward through commercials. However, set-top boxes are a thing of the past. Today, we want an app, either for Smart TV or Apple TV. It should be as easy to use as Netflix. Netflix has done many things right: an app that runs on every imaginable device and is easy to use.

Teleboy

The cheapest Teleboy subscription for smartphones and computers costs 14.90 (even only 11.90 with a discount). It includes 300+ channels, many in full HD, 7 days of replay, and 2400 hours of recording. You can watch on up to 5 devices simultaneously, and there are downloads for offline use. For an additional 5 francs per month, you can skip the ads. I have been using Teleboy for over 5 years myself; I can't imagine watching TV any other way. It gets even cheaper if you have your internet access and mobile phone with Teleboy as well.

Zattoo

Zattoo is free in its basic functionality but is unusable without replay and HD. The premium subscription costs 12 per month, comes with 322+ HD channels (237 in HD), and 7 days of replay. You can watch on up to 2 devices simultaneously and record 1000 hours. The Ultimate subscription costs 20, and the difference is that you can skip the ads, 87 channels are in full HD, plus a few other things that practically no one needs.

yallo.tv (ex. Wilmaa)

Wilmaa is now called yallo.tv. There is a free version available. In the paid version, it costs 14.90 for 270+ channels, with 7 days of replay. If you don't want to see ads, there is the Comfort Option for 7.95 per month. The TV box is included, but there are apps for all common devices, including Apple TV.
